Role Overview:
The District Health Officer is the technical head of the health department, responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health services in the district. This role ensures the delivery of quality healthcare and public health programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, budget, and coordinate health services in the district.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of health programs and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with national health policies and guidelines.
  • Supervise and support health facilities and staff in the district.
  • Lead disease prevention, health promotion, and outbreak response initiatives.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including NGOs and the Ministry of Health, to improve health service delivery.
  • Prepare and submit health reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and relevant authorities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An MBChB or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
  • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, or a related field.
  • Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council with a valid practicing license.
  • At least 9 years of experience in health service management, with 3 years at a senior level (e.g., Senior Medical Officer).

Competencies:

  • Leadership and strategic planning.
  • Health systems management.
  • Communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacancies which exist in Kaberamaido District Local Government. Applicants should forward their applications in triplicate on ESC Form 3 (for applicants in the teaching service) or PSC Form 3 (Revised 2008) for the rest of applicants and addressed to:

The Secretary, District Service Commission, Kaberamaido District Local Government, P.O Box 54, Kaberamaido.

The closing date for receiving applications is Friday, 23/05/2025 at 5:00pm.

The application forms are obtainable from:

  • Public Service Commission offices located at Farmers House, Parliament Avenue, Kampala
  • Any District Service Commission offices countrywide

The applications should bear the title of the post applied for and the Reference Number.

Applicants should attach:

  • 3 sets of certified photocopies of their academic certificates
  • Transcripts and other professional documents relevant to the post
  • Three recent passport size photographs (each attached to each form)
