JOB DETAILS:
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified person to fill the position of Senior Wildlife Officer-Human Carnivore Conflict

Duties
• Work with the UCO Programme team to facilitate the effective operationalisation of the project in line with organizational and donor requirements, procedures and delegated management authority, working with project partners and stakeholders.
• Preparation and implementation of activity work plans and budgets in line with WWF UCO project guidelines
• Support planning and development of training and capacity building for targeted groups in the project area in line with WWF UCO guidelines and project documentation
• Work with the CSOs and other community groups to deliver on Project Activities.
• Work with partner offices to ensure environmental and social safeguarding is implemented across the project.
• Ensure effective reporting for technical and financial aspects of the project
• Represent the project at internal and external fora.
• Work with UCO teams to convene, facilitate and/or chair meetings and workshops, and consolidate relationships with project partners
• Ensure compliance and provide support in ongoing project assessments
• Document best practices and lessons learnt in relation to the set performance indicators in line with the M&E framework of the project
• Work with the team to ensure timely project’s reporting in line with WWF guidelines
• Support communication team in organizing events to raise awareness, compile reports, briefing papers and other communications on Human-Carnivore Conflicts;
• Work with project partners on community engagements and livelihood development
• Work with fundraising teams to ensure continuous availability of funds for further implementation of wildlife conservation activities in Uganda
• Any other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience
• A university Bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology, Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management and any other biodiversity conservation related field. Additional post graduate qualification in wildlife management will be an added advantage;
• Three (3) years’ experience in designing and/or implementing conservation projects preferably with components on Human Carnivore Conflicts, community-based initiatives and/or protected area management
• Fluency and excellent writing skills in English
• Knowledge of Local languages (Rukiga-Runyankole) within the project area is a Must
• Ability to communicate publicly (written and oral) and with a wide range of audiences, particularly the local communities
• Experience in organization development related work for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) will be an added advantage
• Experience in GPS mobile data collection apps especially use of SMART Tools, Earth Ranger will be an added advantage
• Ability to convey the work of WWF with confidence and credibility;
• Good team player with the ability to work well under own initiatives
• Demonstrated project management experience and ability to coordinate projects with many variables, set and meet deadlines and manage a timeline under pressure.
• Experience working in the same landscape is an added advantage.
