The American Refugee Committee (ARC) works with its partners and constituencies to provide opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and host communities – to better survive conflicts and crisis, and to rebuild lives of dignity, health, security and self-sufficiency. ARC presently works in and with partners in ten countries globally. ARC has been operational in Uganda since 1994, and today has a strong and committed team of over 130 regular, full time national staff and partners. The overall goal of the Uganda program is to improve the well-being and self-reliance of the displaced refugee populations by ensuring the provision of basic services (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Community Services; SGBV/Protection; Child protection; Mental Health & Psychosocial support), currently in six refugee settlements - Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kyaaka II, Kyagwali, Bidi Bidi and Palabek - in Uganda. ARC is looking for competent, qualified, self-driven and committed individuals to be part of and contribute to accomplishing our ambitious and exciting 2018/2019 programming – several challenging full time positions, across the various refugee settlement sites as well as at the ARC main office – Kampala, Uganda:

Job Title: Clinical Psychologist (1 position)
Reports to: Clinical Psychologist / Team Leader
Location: Kyaaka II

Job Summary
The Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for establishing a psychosocial section and services in designated refugee settlements including development of standard operating procedures, referral system, and provision of quality psychological assessment and treatment using psychological therapeutic interventions.

Minimum qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development studies or any related field.
  • A qualification in M&E is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in data management and M & E of program activities in an INGO.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of SPSS, MS ACCESS and Spreadsheets and other database programs.
  • Excellent report writing, communication and analytical skills.
