About us
lnterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization established in 1988, duty registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU is involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda. lnterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of; Human Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management. In partnership with UNHCR the UN Refugee agency, lnterAid Uganda seeks to recruit suitable and qualified persons to fill the following positions based at the Head office and Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement on temporary basis.

Job Title: HIV/AIDS Counsellor
Reports to: Community Health Officer
Duty Station: Kampala, Head Office.
Contract Duration: 2 (Two Months). Renewable subject to availability of funds and performance.

Role Summary
To conduct confidential HIV and AIDS pre and Post-test counselling for both on-site and off-site with the best practices for HIV and AIDS counselling and ensure access to Reproductive Health and HIV services optimally by clients.

Person Specification

• A suitable candidate to fill the position should hold a Degree in Social work, Social Sciences, Counselling, Psychology or Diploma in Medical/Health, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Additional post graduate training in HIV/Aids Counselling is desirable
• A minimum of three Years’ relevant work experience in counselling related to HIV and AIDS
• Should be a good listener.
• Good Interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills
