ChildFund Uganda is working in over 30 districts to develop the capacities of local community based organizations to be able to mobilize resources and implement programs that improve the well-being of deprived, excluded and vulnerable children.

ChildFund Uganda intends to implement a three year maternal, new born and child survival project in 4 sub counties in Busia District. The purpose of the project is to increase availability, access and utilization of high quality health services both at community and health facilities. This will be done by improving access and quality of ECD services and strengthening health systems both at community and health facility. In respect to this, ChildFund seeks to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven and result-oriented candidates for the following position:

Title: Project Officer-Maternal, Newborn and Child Survival
Report to: Program Manager-HEALTH
Location: Busia

JOB SUMMARY:
The project Officer Maternal, New born and child survival will lead the training and mentoring of community health volunteers in the project Are a and facilitate health care quality improvement initiatives at health facility and community level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare project Work plans and budgets.
  • Lead the training and mentoring of community health volunteers in the Project Area.
  • Strengthen linkages between communities and health facilities.
  •  Facilitate health care quality improvement initiatives at health facility and community levels.
  •  Coordinate the Project activities with other stakeholders, local
  • Government leaders and other non -Government organizations within and outside the district.
  • Prepare activity, quarterly and annual project reports
  •  Document promising practices including writing case stories, project briefs and other communication materials.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A medical background with at least a diploma in Midwifery(Registered Midwife) or Clinical medicine and other Community health.
  • Registered with the relevant professional council.
  • Experience of at least two years in implementing community health projects
  • Computer Knowledge and skills in the use of MS Office.
  •  Excellent Communication skills both oral and written.
  • Willingness to work in a rural community.
  • Ability to ride or willingness to learn how to ride a motorcycle.
  •  Knowledge of the local context is desirable as he/she will constantly interface with the community members.
  • Additional training in Public Health is an added advantage.
