Background
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant positions under Strengthening Institutional Development Project (SIDP).

PROJECT: Strengthening Institutional Development Project (SIDP)
Job Title: Senior information Technology Officer
Contract period: 24 months
Salary Scale: U3
Reports to: Assistant Commissioner, information and Communication
Number of vacancies: One

Job Purpose:
To Plan, develop and implement strategies that support information Technology (IT) in the Ministry.

Key Functions:

• Supporting the Ministry in implementing set standards for applications that meets the needs of the users and supports the overall information and Communication Technology;
  
• Developing business continuity and disaster recovery plans;
  
• Managing all information technology equipment and inventory; y
  
• Maintaining up to date systematic drawing of Local and Wide Area Network and infrastructure supporting e-government;
  
• Preparing security policy instruments, implementing security tools and putting in place mechanisms to detect security breaches; V
  
• Managing the Ministry's network and data centre in conformity with appropriate standards;
  
• Developing policies and administering network including user access rights and maintaining up to future inventory of network resources;
  
• Determining requirements for computer systems, data storage and retention or related hardware or software facilities, establishing overall or detailed design specifications and development schedules for sub - system;
• Coordinating new and on-going computer systems;
  
• Modifying, maintaining and developing computer systems;
  
• Writing and maintaining system documentation;
  
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications:

• Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelors Degree in Either information Technology or information Communication Technology or Computer Science or Computer information Systems and Administration or Computer Engineering or Software Engineering from a recognized University/institution.
  
• Possession of CISCO Certified Network Administration (CCNA), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering (MCSE), Microsoft System Development (MSD) and Oracle Certified Development (OCD), Information Security and Audit (ISACA) certification among others will be an added advantage.

Experience:
Must have a minimum of 3 years working experience in the field of Information Technology in a Government setting or a reputable organization.
