Background:
The mission of the infectious Diseases Institute (IDIJ is to strengthen health systems in Africa. with strong emphasis an infectious diseases. through research and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-Johns Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.

So as to support the operations of the Finance and Administration department, IDI is seeking to recruit for the following position

Position: 2 Assistant Procurement
Reports to: Procurement Officer

General Summary: The Assistant Procurement Officer shall provide procurement support in all IDI procurement functions including both local and international purchases. covering a range of requirements from medical drugs, laboratory equipment and supplies, office supplies; IT related requirements, renovations, and service agreements among others.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The Assistant Procurement Officer will provide Procurement support services in all IDI procurement functions in accordance with IDI procurement procedures

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and issuing Request tor quotations to vendors
  • Coordinating the evaluation of bids and make appropriate recommendations to the procurement committee where applicable
  • In liaise with stores staff. verity the delivered items for completeness of requested quantities and compliance with quality and quantity specifications.
  •  Ensure safe custody and systematic filing of purchase orders, agreements and all relevant records.
  •  Prepare Purchase orders for recommended suppliers/providers.
  • ln Liaison with the finance team, follow up vendor invoices to ensure timely payment.
  •  Maintain and keep track of all framework and long term agreements.
  • Carry out any other assignments as may be allocated by the supervisor.

Essential Educational requirements:

  •  A University degree in Procurement is Supply chain management, Business Administration or any related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in procurement and supply chain management in a busy reputable organization
  • Should have good interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a busy environment
  •  Computer skills in MS office and Navision ERP
