Job details:
The Govemment of Uganda is implementing the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP), under the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD). The main objective of the Programmes is to empower the target youth and women to hamess their socioeconomic potential and increase self- employment opportunities and income levels. The Programmes provide revolving funds to finance small enterprises initiated by the groups of youth and women in various sectors of the economy.

The implementation of the Programmes is mainstreamed into the govemment stmctures at the national and local govemment levels with support from Technical Support Team (TST) based at the National and Regional levels.

The Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, invites applications from qualified Ugandans to fill vacant position in the Technical Support Team of the Programmes as follows:

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Title: Assistant Programme Officer
Report to: Program Manager in charge Kampala
Duty Station: Regional Field Office
Terms: Two year contract: renewable based on performance

Job Purpose:
To assist in coordinating Programme at the Regional level with key stakeholders.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Initiate, plan, and coordinate with districts within specified regions on implementation of UWEP.
  • Provide administrative support to the Programme activities.
  • Verify group application files.
  • Assist to review the District annual WOTK plans on UWEP activities.
  • Assist in conducting periodic spot checks on Programme implementation at project sites.
  • Assist in coordinating the participation of key stakeholders in UWEP activities.
  • Assist in maintaining information database on key ongoing initiatives within the region and builds partnerships.
  • Assist in analyzing reports from each enterprise project
  • Assist in preparing monthly beneficiary report on enterprise implementation.
  •  Facilitate and coordinate the production of various Programme reports for the Region.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time by the National Programme Coordinator.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Applicants must be Ugandans possessing the following:

  •  Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social Sciences,
  • Development Studies, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized University.
  • At least one (1) one year of relevant work experience
  • Should be self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer Literacy is a must.
