Pearl Engineering Company Limited, a Civil, Building, Electrical and Mechanical works Contractor Invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Projects Manager.
The Projects Manager will lead multiple sites project teams to deliver projects worth 20 to 30 billion shillings per year on time, within set quality standards and budgets.
The job is based in Kampala but requires regular travel to Project Sites.

A. Purpose of the Role:
The role is to lead multiple site project teams in project planning and execution.

B. Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

1. Profitability on managed projects.
   
2. Delivery of projects within agreed timeframe, budget and quality.
   
3. Delivery of projects to the required Occupational Health & Safety and Environment standards.
   
4. Competence development of project team members.

C. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

1. Direct, control, motivate & discipline the multiple sites project teams.
   
2. Engage, Control & discipline Sub-contractors working on the supervised projects;
   
3. Interpretation of the Construction Programme & timely translation into labour, plant & material resources.
   
4. Setting up and monitoring the quality assurance process for supervised projects.
   
5. Studying drawings & details – ensuring the accuracy of work carried out and querying unclear or missing information with the responsible consultant; and initiating any changes to specifications and project schedules.
   
6. Attend site meetings and ensure timely requests for Long Lead information;
   
7. Liaise with Municipality for inspections and notify the responsible consultant if construction details differ substantially from approved Building Permit details;
   
8. Ensure formwork design, cycle planning, ordering & control of materials; (include approval of resources for the sites and control of wastage of resources)
   
9. Accuracy of setting out – liaise with site agents to ensure proper controls established for accurate setting out;
   
10. Reinforcing – co-ordination of sub-contractor & timely material orders.
    
11. Monitor the Occupational Health & Safety, Security and Environmental performance for the supervised projects.
    
12. Coach and mentor the project teams and initiate trainings to close identified training gaps.

E. Education and Experience:

1. A good degree in Civil Engineering with postgraduate training in project management.
   
2. Training in Finance management would be an added advantage.
   
3. A registered Engineer and / or member of UIPE.
   
4. Experience in managing multiple projects worth at least 20 billion in each of last two years.
5. Proven track record of success in handling projects involving storied buildings, industrial buildings/works, road works, water works and bridges.
6. Minimum 8 years’ experience in the construction industry of which at least 3 have been at Site management level.
