The USAID Supporting Access to Justice, Fostering Equity & Peace (SAFE) Program is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Development Outreach 8i Communications Specialist (DOCS). The SAFE Program (2012 - 2018) strengthens access to justice, peace and reconciliation in target districts. SAFE is seeking a highly-qualified DOCS Specialist for a one-year post. This is an immediate vacancy requiring near-term availability.

Qualifications
Competitive candidates tor the DOCS position will have demonstrated successful experience related to program outreach and communications for a broad range of audiences. The DOCS will have demonstrated experience writing and editing content for print and all forms of social media, with audiences including local counterparts from government and civil society, USAID, and other stakeholders. Experience and contacts with print, broadcast and social media required.

Requirements

  • University degree in relevant field, such as journalism public policy analysis, communication. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years oi related work experience in an outreach role on a related USAID Program.
  •  Fluency in English with excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and photograph skills.
  •  Cutting edge knowledge of social media and web publishing skills (using established content management systems).

Responsibilities .
The DOC Specialist is responsible for designing and producing reports, web content and brochures; scheduling and coordinating events with media coverage including radio video or social media; and tor creating content for the program website and other reports. The DOC Specialist must tailor content tor relevant audiences and constituencies. The DOC Specialist will compile and organize photographs for use in reporting and publications. Demonstrated experience incorporating gender and youth issues in project outreach is highly desirable. Occasional travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create external and internal outreach materials using print, radio and web media.
  • Lead the development of the Program's outreach and communication strategy and products, including press releases, success stones, conference events, campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate effective implementation of SAFE Branding & Marking Plan.
  •  Develop and manage the production of publications such as newsletters and brochures.
  • in coordination with the SAFE team, ensure donor, partner, and key stakeholder are informed of activities and outcomes through effective uniting and photography.
  • Manage relationships with media, graphic designers, and publishing vendors, as appropriate.
  • Provide regular written/verbal program progress updates, as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
