Makerere University seeks to fill the positions of Principal and Deputy Principal in Colleges. The Colleges of Makerere University are semi-autonomous academic units which contain Schools, Academic Institutes and Departments which carry out general and professional training as well as carrying out Research in various disciplines. This advertisement is for the positions of Principal and position of Deputy Principal in the following 6 Colleges.

• College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES)
• College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-security (COVAB)
• College of Natural Sciences (CONAS) \
• College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS)
• College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS)
• College of Education and External Studies (CEES)

Post: Principal
The position is a senior post in the University created to give leadership to a Constituent College of Makerere University.

Job Description
The Principal of the College shall:

• Be the Chief Administrative, Academic and Financial Officer of the College
• Promote and maintain Academic Excellency, Efficiency and good order at the College.
• Implement University policies and enforce applicable regulations at the College
• Exercise such other functions as may be prescribed by the University Council

Eligibility
The person eligible for appointment should possess the following minimum attributes:

• Hold PhD or other academic Doctorate;
• Be at least of the rank of Associate Professor or its equivalent at the time of application;
• Four (4) years Managerial ability in an Institution of Higher Learning or Research Institution with track record of having served as Head of Academic Department or Academic Programme Coordinator or Research Project Manager;
• Teaching experience of at least six (6) years in any of the disciplines being offered in the College he/she intends to lead;
• Applicants who are at the rank of Associate Professor should be at least 40 years and not above 61 years at the time of application.
• Applicants who are at the rank of Professor should be at least 40 years and not above 65 years at the time of application
• Be a citizen of Uganda.

Salary: Scale M3.
Tenure
The Principal ls appointed to hold office for a term of four years.
