Currently, Oxfam is implementing a humanitarian response to address the humanitarian needs of South Sudanese refugees hosted in West Nile sub—region. Oxfam’s areas of intervention include WASH, Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL), Gender and Protection. Oxfam works with local partners as a strategy for building humanitarian preparedness and response capacity within the organisations.

Oxfam is seeking to recruit qualified persons to join our dynamic, innovative and committed humanitarian response team. Some of these positions are for immediate placement while others are tor potential projects pending confirmation of funding.

Public Health Engineering Officers
To be based in Arua and Yumbe, the PHE Officer shall carry out technical assessments, design, and implement water and sanitation projects that are socially acceptable, environmental friendly, and economically viable; participate in the assessment of emergency needs as requested, taking into consideration the broader perspective of Public Health; design and implement camp water and sanitation facilities for refugee settlements. This person shall oversee the construction of emergency water systems, using surface water and possibly ground water, following technical designs; ensure that the most appropriate forms of sanitation systems are implemented, in consultation with the beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control and drainage; contribute towards planning and proposal writing in order to provide clear objectives and establish indicators for monitoring and evaluating of the programme; develop and implement a technical training programme for relevant staff/Engineering Assistants, partners and, to ensure that water sanitation projects in the area reflect sustainability.
