Organization Overview
National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Data Bank, a body corporate under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal industry and Fisheries its mandate is to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda, wishes to recruit the following;

Job Title: Deputy Technical Manager/ Production

Reporting to: Technical Manager Production

Overall Job Purpose
To deputize the Technical Manager Production in production of most appropriate technologies for the enhancement oi breed stock, disease resilience and productivity.

Age Limit: 35-55 years

Specific Responsibilities
Supports the planning and supervision of implementation of unit budgets, projects and programs, Sources for and monitors application of animal breeding technologies and advices the Technical Managerl Production accordingly, Reviews, interprets and reports on recorded data arising out of animal production and activities, Supports management of the centre farms for establishment of foundation stock and production of superior dams and sires, Monitors and reports on compliance of animal breeding centres to breeding standards and practices and advises on appropriate action where breaches occur, Evaluates and makes recommendations on new breeding bio technologies genetic materials, Coordinates the production for sale of founder brood stock oi fish, Monitors, evaluates and reports on rearing of sire studs for production of semen and dams for artificial insemination to multiply breeding stock, Supports monitoring of compliance of the Centre farms established breeding and recording protocols, Supervises and appraises performance of staff in the unit and Undertakes any other official duties as assigned by the Technical Manager/ Production.

Basic Requirements

• A Masters degree in Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science or their equivalent from a recognized degree awarding Institution.
• Specialized post-graduate training in animal health and production from a recognized institution would constitute an added advantage.
• Working experience of at least eight (8) years in animal industry is a prerequisite with at least three years experience at Senior level in Government or recognized institution.
