ACODEV is a regional NGO that was founded in 2003 and runs integrated Community Development Programs in Public Health, Human Rights, OVC support, Livelihood and Grassroots Capacity Development programs including sub-granting for small grassroots organizations in East and now Southern Africa region.

With funding from USAID, ACODEV, in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) as the Prime, is implementing a S-year consortium Program: Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth (SOCY). The Program is designed to improve the health, nutrition, education and psychosocial wellbeing of orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect among this population. It is expected to reach a minimum of 625,000 children and their caregivers within 101,500 households in 19 districts in central, south western and western Uganda. The program will improve outcomes for vulnerable children and youth by strengthening the systems that surround them; caregivers will have greater economic opportunities, which will increase their resilience and make them less susceptible to shocks; local government structures and C505 will be strengthened to provide services targeting the diverse needs of vulnerable children, and health and social service agencies will strengthen their coordination and referral systems to provide integrated care along the continuum of response.

SILC and Youth group formation are the key vehicles used to support the beneficiary groups. It is anticipated that for every household enrolled will have a minimum of one youth, making, approximately 100,000 Youth. 80% of these are expected to participate in SOCY Project activities. ACODEV provides Technical Assistance (TA) to the programs operations of consortium C505. It is against this background that ACODEV is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancies below, to carryout vertical project activities, in the districts of: Central Region: Wakiso, Luwero & Hoima; Western Region: Kyenjojo, Kibaale, Sheema & Mitooma.

Job Title: House Hold Economic Strengthening (HES) Specialist

Reports to: Regional Programme Coordinator

Key Roles and Job Requirements
The HES Specialist will support the roll-out of the SILC program, attend HES Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings train SILC Supervisor & SILC Agents and eventually lead the Private Service Providers (PSPs) training processes with support from the Household Economic Strengthening Technical Lead. S/he will train PSPs using CR5’ Financial Education curriculum. In addition, the HES specialist will be responsible for ensuring qualifying households are matched with cash transfer programs and other temporary consumption support initiatives; trained in SMART skills and receive marketing skills, as appropriate. S/he will work closely with the Early Childhood Development and Youth Specialist to ensure that youth are participating in life skills including financial education and income generating livelihoods activities. The HES specialist will provide Technical Assistance to consortium CSOs and lead the process of establishing strategic partnerships with the Private Sector.

Job Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in: Economics, Entrepreneurship, Microfinance, Social Sciences, Development Studies A post graduate qualification in a relevant field will be an advantage. Knowledge of SILC Methodology is a must have. A minimum of 4 years‘ experience in implementing / coordinating household economic strengthening interventions with national or international N605; Experience in leveraging private public partnerships is preferred.
