JOB DETAILS:
The Mission of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries is to "Transiom' Subsistence Farming to Commercial Agriculture”. The Ministry seeks to eradicate interceptions for its horticultural exports including flowers, fresh fruits, and vegetables to the foreign markets and to reduce presence of the hamtful organisms and high chemical residues among flood crops sold to the citizens ofthe country.
In order to address this, the ministry has found it necessary to expand its Human Resource capacity by urgently recruiting inspectors and one [1] lnformation Technology {IT} Officer on contract terms lo beef up its existing work force.
Applications are now invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill 20 vacant positions for Agricultural Inspectors and one [1] Information Technology (IT) Officer.
These positions are to be filled initially on a short tem1 period of 6 months with a possibility of extension for another one year.

Key Functions/Duties
The incumbent will he responsible to the Senior Agricultural Inspector in performing the following duties:
• Inspect and certify compliance oi the plant and plant products to laws and regulations
• Inspect plant and plant products moving in international trade
• Carry out interceptionsfdestruclion and reexportation of prohibited! rejecled plants and plant products
• Perform preliminary pest and disease detection and pest exclusion al entnvfexist or inspection point and enforces quarantines
• Inspect and verity seed agiicultural chemicals imports
• Issue phytosanitary certificates
• Inspects plant during active growth, plant nurseiies and plant products destine for export
• Carry out survillance/ monitoiing of quarantine pests at entry fexil poinls and along the border
• Supervise prescribed phylosanitary treatments
• Collaborate with other agencies at entry points (Customs, UNBS, Police, Civil Aviation]
• Carry out internal and open quarantine

Academia Qualifications:
• An Honors Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/ Crop Science or any other closely related discipline from a recognized institution or university.
• A post graduate qualification in any of the above fields from a recognized Training Institution is an added advantage
