JOB DETAILS:
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research and capacity development. IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment, Global Health Security, Training, Research, Laboratory services (including the CAPcertified IDI Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Title : SMC Nurses (3 positions)

Reporting : Site Team Leader
Duty Station : KIKUUBE HC IV(KIKUUBE DISTRICT), KINYARA HC IV(MASINDI DISTRICT & ADUMI HC IV(ARUA DISTRICT).
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure eligibility of clients seeking circumcision following screening for STIs (Using the syndromic approach), TT eligibility (as guided by the MoH TT for SMC policy), contraindications for Circumcision (as guided by MoH, WHO, PEPFAR).
• As required, assist surgical teams during VMMC procedures; provide nursing care to clients attending the clinics.
• Maintain nursing records as required cognizant of the standard ethical requirements.
• Ensure procedures are carried out safely in accordance with agreed policies
Educational requirements
• Must have completed a registered Nurses Diploma Training from a recognized institution
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in a clinical and surgical setting
• Additional training in HIV/AIDS and certification in SMC will be an added advantage
• Experience working in a surgical theatre setting, SMC is an added advantage
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of current HIV/AIDS trends
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
