Organizational Context and Scope
The project “Strengthening social cohesion and stability in slum population" is an initiative being implemented by international Organization of Migration (lOM) with AFFCAD as an implementing partner working with youth. The Project is funded by the European Union, for a period of 4 months and is being implemented in Bwaise, Kisehyi, Katwe and Kabalagala slums in kampala
The specific objective is to provide employment opportunities and basic local services, as well as preventing conflict in marginalized communities in urban slums of Uganda. Through the project, youth and women in the 4 slums have received training in vocational skills and in business management to increase their employment opportunities. In line with the above objective.
IOM seeks to engage a consultant to conduct a fashion design and market opportunities training for the youth and women practicing tailoring and fashion design as a vocation .

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Select participants to be trained fashion design skills using a customized criteria
• Prepare tools to carry-out training on fashion design for 20 youth and women, include lCT design tools.
• Conduct capacity building for 20 participants on fashion design using demonstration exercises and other relevant methods.
• Train the participants on fashion design marketing strategies focusing on markets outside Uganda.
• Organize a fashion show in Kampala for the Participate to show case their design skills
• Train participants on fabric design Technique.
• Prepare and design a training report.
• The assignment will be for a total of 8 weeks starting November 2019

Education
• Have a minimum of a post-graduate degree or equivalent in fashion design, tailoring or any other relevant discipline.

EXPERIENCE
• 5-7 years working in areas of fashion design, and youth engagement.
• Experience in different training methods.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting needs ussessniunt and developing training modules.
• Relevant regional and international experience in fashion design and market dynamics.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Languages: Fluency in English and Working knowledge of Lugandal Swahili
