JOB DETAILS:
The Agricultural Business Initiative Group is a social enterprise with the overall vision to contribute to 'a competitive and sustainable agriculture and agribusiness sector in Uganda in support of equitable wealth creation in Uganda'. The aBi Group consists of two companies Limited by Guarantee; aBi Development (formerly aBi Trust) and aBi Finance. The main focus of aBi Development is to increase agricultural production and value addition by extending matching grants and business development services (BDS) to agribusinesses, farmer organizations and intermediaries. The grants and BDS enhance planning and management, production and business infrastructure, and upstream and downstream market linkages of producers and agribusinesses. aBi Finance expands access to business finance for agricultural producers and agribusinesses by offering to Financial Institutions (Fls), financial incentives and infrastructure that make lending to the agricultural sector more attractive and less risky.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Head of Finance shall provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of aBi's finance strategies and ensure a sound financial reporting system and business continuity by having meaningful financial impact on the agricultural sector in Uganda. .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and develop budgets and financial plans that comprehensively support the implementation of aBi's work plan and the achievement of strategic objectives.
• Ensure that aBi's Financial Resources are managed according to best practice and in compliance with the laws of Uganda and aBi's / Development Partner policies.
• Lead in the preparation of strategic level financial reports and management information, highlighting any anomalies or concerns; drawing these to the attention of Accountable Managers (especially the GCEO) and supporting them in taking appropriate corrective action and making informed decisions.
• In Liaison with the Coo Corporate Services contribute to the enhancement of the organization’s financial capacity by leading in the knowledge sharing and learning of best practice and new practices in finance management/administration.
• Lead the Finance department in a manner that empowers them to deliver excellent financial management services that are to the required standards and expectations in order to achieve a Bi's strategic objectives.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's Degree in Finance or an MBA
• Degree in Commerce (Accounting) / Business Administration(Accounting) and related fields.
• Full membership of ICPAU, ACCA, CPA. • Job Related Experience And Knowledge
• 10 years' progressive experience in financial management in medium to large size donor funded organisations or financial institutions.
• Demonstrable experience in managing grants and knowledge of donor funding rules and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of Navision Accounting Package
• Extensive knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and other accounting best practice.
