Senior Technical Advisor
Overview
The Senior Technical Advisor will provide technical and program oversight and direction in the area of Reproductive Maternal Newborn and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) including HIV/AIDS prevention and other project areas like Gender and Youth programming. This position is expected to engage stakeholders and donors and expand Jhpiego - Uganda's technical participation at National and Sub national levels and in various health related forums and working groups. This position will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities and, in collaboration with the project team and partners at national and sub- national level, support the design of service delivery strategies, based on sound and current scientific evidence. This position is a contingent ugon award by the donor. .

Required Qualifications:
• A Medical Degree (Doctor or Nursing) or Master's in Public Health
• At least 5 years' experience in managing $3M per year in donor-funded projects and in the design and implementation of large health projects, preferably in Uganda:
• At least 5 years' experience implementing Reproductive Health programs
• Skill in the following technical areas: strengthening service delivery programs, training, pre-service education, supporting Local Governments, developing health work plans, performance and quality improvement, monitoring and evaluation
• Practical technical skills in Reproductive Health with a bias in Long acting reversible contraceptives at facility and community-level together MNCAH and HIV/AIDS
• The ability to liaise with senior MOH Officials, donors especially UN agencies and other development partner funded projects executives of NGOs, FBOS, CBOS, the for-profit business community, and senior members of the donor community:
• Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Ugandan healthcare systems, particularly the public health system, experience living and working in Uganda preferred.
• Familiarity with UN agencies, development partners administrative, management and reporting procedures and systems
• Proven track record managing a project team composed of several technical experts, Village Health teams and fistering teamwork
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in national and sub-national programs and technical staff in the areas
• Excellent written, presentation, communication and organizational skills in English
• Ability to make upcountry travels up to 30% of the time.
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills in English
Excellent communication skills, with strong leadership skills and a supportive management style
