We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position for an anticipated USAID Uganda Project “The Social and Behavior Change tor Transformation (SBCAT) Activity will aim to increase the ability of individuals, households, and communities to adopt priority behaviors that will result in improved health and development outcomes through social and behavior change (SEC) The focus will be on family planning and reproductive health, HlV/AlDS; malaria, nutrition maternal, neonatal, and child health; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), emerging pandemic threats and other infectious diseases, and, to a certain extent other non-health development activities in education, economic growth, and democracy and governance, as the need arises." All position are contingent upon funder approval of key personnel and availability of funds

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, SOCIAL AND BEHAVIOR CHANGE (SBC)

The SEC Technical Director will work in close collaboration with the COP to ensure SEC approaches and activities are sound and support the results and goals tor the anticipated Social and Behavior Change tor Transformation (SBC4T) Project The SEC Technical Director will lead development of SEC strategies in coordination with partners and will ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities generated and ensure adherence to global standard of excellence in SEC programming In collaboration with M&E Director. s/he will monitor program results and be responsible for the quality and accuracy of technical interventions and results. The position will be based in Kampala, Uganda and will report to the COP He/she will provide overall technical leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of SBC strategies to address the need of behavior change related to health (FP/RH, MNCAH, malaria, HlV/AlDS, and other selected health areas) and development sectors

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in public health. social sciences. international development, health or development communication, business administration, social sciences, or a closely related field is required
  • Eight years senior level management experience in the design. implementation, and management oi SEC programs oi similar size, complexity. and settings. Knowledge oi USG Health initiatives and related reporting requirements and funding parameters
  • Knowledge of state-oi-the-art SEC models and strategies, including HCD and participatory development approaches, behavioral health driven tactics and strategies including behavioral economics, as well as their practical application to one or more health and development areas is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge oi experience applying proven SBC approaches for audience segmentation and addressing different types oi health and development behaviors, as well as use of a life stage framework, and integration across health areas and/or sectors desired; Experience designing activities to address behaviors using communication and non-communication-based approaches
