VSO is the world’s leading -independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. Our high-impact approach brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action to change lives and make the world a fairer place. We believe that it is only if people step forward either as local, national or global citizens that sustainable change can happen by‘ enabling people andin turn their communities to play a more active role in development. Volunteering provides the means through which the essential pre conditions for sustainable change:- ownership, participation, empowerment and inclusion can be realized. Hence, VSO promotes volunteering as a powen‘ul and practical approach to tackle poverty and inequality. VSO Uganda is implementing the international Citizen Service programme (ICS) in three Districts; Hoima, Lira and Kitgum. Through working with VSO partners in these Districts, the programme will directly contribute to building skills and increasing employability for young people. Through experience, we know that youth work very well as peers that is why we are seeking for enthusias- tic young people ready to challenge themselves to cause about change in the Districts above.
