JOB DETAILS:
The World Bank Uganda Country Office seeks to hire an individual Consultant to provide technical support to the World Bank Energy Task ‘team based in Uganda Country Office, in preparation and implementation of Bank-financed projects in Uganda's power sector. This position is a 100 staff days position torthe initial contract period in Financial Year 2019/2020, renewable for an additional 150 staff days per annum based on performance and future work program.
The Consultant will be based in Uganda and will report to the Lead Energy Specialist and the Senior Energy Specialist, ltelshe will also work closely with members of the Task team and other consultants. Tasks and Responsibilities of the Consultant will include the following: (a) review protect reports, project documents and etherirrslcvant documents; (b3 support the technical review of relevant procurement packages and technical clesigns/reports as assigned from time to time; ic) support the Task Team in dialogue with government audlother stakeholders including development partners: (d) participate in discussions with government agencies, including closely following up on outstanding gaotivitiesiand providing necessary support; and lie) Participate in implementation support missions and prepare/contribute to aide memoires etc..

  Selection Criteria and Electronic Applications: .
The successful candidalesshouid hold a master's degree in a relevant discipline eg. Electrical Engineering, Business Ad ministration or energy related studies from a recognized University or any other related iield with at least 10 years’ working experience, with 8 years in the power sectors in sub~Saharan Africa; demonstrating experience with World Bank~iu"nded proiects or similar international iinanciai institution will be an added advantage; goodonderstanolng of power sector issues in Uganda and the sub-Saharan Africa region; high level coordination skills and experience in protect mauagement;strong interpersonal skills; excellentrcninmurrication slrliis, both in oral, presentations and in writing sections of papers, briefs, intlepeodentrepcrts etc; capacity to work simultaneously on tasks, proves integrity and confidentiality; experience from working in or" with donors/development agencies is desirable and a good understanding of Bank Operational petioles, practices and procedures, will be an advantage" (though not essential). Fluency in English language is required.
