SUPPORT TO POTENTIAL AND EXISTING MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (MSMES) IN UGANDA CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Background
The GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), provides financial and technical support to projects that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing people's well-being and livelihoods in 128 countries across regions and operating in different value chains. Thus, the SGP demonstrates that community action can maintain the fine balance between human needs and environmental Imperatives
One of the key results of BGP project grants is increasing production yields of small agriculture producers and cooperatives through the implementation of more sustainable production practices, which in turn, has enabled them to establish themselves as micro, smell and medium enterprises (SMEs), with majority being micro and small enterprises. These M&VES need to have a commercially sustainable business models which demonstrates that environmentally sustainable production can be a competitive advantage and incentivizes producers to continue with this production model

As such, the SGP is inviting applications from qualified organizations to carry out e plot MSIVE Support Initive in Uganda and provide capacity development to potent eland established MBMEs in order to enhance their ability to thrive as successful and independent businesses. This will be achieved by providing training and access to tools and other resources to enhance business skills, sustainability, and competitiveness of the targeted cooperatives; and (1) facilitating market access through access to networks of potential clients and partners as well as through capacity development. It is important to note that the courses are only open to nature positive
The SGP MSME Intative is expected to last up to 24 months and to have a maximum budget of U8860,000. The proposals will be reviewed and approved by the BGP Nation Steering Committee (NBC) in consultation with a national level Technical Advisory Group (TAG). It is expected that the successful applicant will carry out the work in collaboration with the relevant staff and members of the SOP

Objectives and Responsibilities
Organizations wishing to apply for the implementation of the BGP MBME Inative will be expected to provide courses in the following areas stated below and to have deep under- standing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA). The organisation will then compile a plan of action to provide capacity development to potential and established MSUES in order to enhance their ability to thrive as successful and independent businesses In Ugands including:

Provide training and tools to strengthen the capacities of nature positive M&MEG In four areas of value chain development.
Essentials of Business Planning
Including but not limited to:
• Business model and strategy market analysis, competition, strength and weaknesses of the participants, business plan development Besic accounting and finance

Understanding marketing and customers
Including but not limited to:
• Marketing mix (Four Ps: product, price, placement, and promotion
• General marketing techniques
• Digital Social Media Marketing Customer Experience

Online s
including but not limited to:
> E-commerce
Cyber security best practices and tools
• Specify how the modules will be facilitated. The organization needs to specify (1) number of hours for each module; which courses all be provided in-person s online; (10) number of facilitators and their specific roles and responsibilities
• Provide peer-to-peer mentoring sessions after each module or course area to help the enterprises on the specific needs. The organization needs to specify how the mentoring sessions will be conducted (eg, in-person, online or phone consultation); and (1) when it will be conducted; and (who the mentors will be. It is highly recom mended that mentors operate nature-positive businesses
• Specify how the partolpants will be evaluated. The organization should provide detalled description of how they evaluate participant performance and what tools, relevant will be used.
• Organization of courses and events. The organization will provide the venue and on- ganize the courses and other relevant events pertaining to the BVE inteve, including mobilizing the percipients BME for the courses events. Given that the courses are open to all MBMEs in the country and not exclusive to those supported by the BGP, the finalization of the participant list will need the approval of the BGP National Coordinator to ensure that participants are nature positive MBMES.

Organizations wishing to apply for the implementation of the pilot MSIVE Support Initive are invited to produce
A work plan and justified budget about when and how it will take action to fun appropriate combination of the responsibilities outlined above.
A list of expected products/ourses and timing of delivery for a period of 24 months starting in 2024 through to 2000 in line with the BGP OP7 Country Programme Strategy (CPB) in Uganda. The applicant organization will be expected to work closely with the SGP National Coordinator (NC) in the Uganda
Details on the specific experience and capacities of the applicant organization including individuals who will be working to full the Call for Proposals (eg, facilitation of modules coursework mentoring sessions; evaluation of participants performance In each module).

Qualifications
• Experience in providing courses on value-chain development. Experience with working with MBNES, especially micro-enterprises
• Ful understanding of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) Proven ability to facilitate effective and balanced consultations which includes diverse actors and perspectives to ensure that voices are heard, and exchanges are constructive.
• Proven ability to evaluate the participante performance and provide necessary course of action where relevant
• Proven ability to produce high quality written reports (to the BGP) according to dessines.
• Enical marketing principles

including but not limited to:
• Packaging and product quality requirements for specific markets (depending on Business-to Business (B2B) or Business-to-Consumer (B2C)] Import Export requirements
• Accessing new markets
• Customs procedures/cross border treding requirements
• Opportunities under African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ATOFTA)
• Femininity with UNDP and BOP programming an advantage
