JOB DETAILS:
Makerere University School of Public Health is implementing a 5-year Research for Scalable Solutions (R4S) project with funding from USAID through FHI360. Through its various work streams, the project conducts implementation science research to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and equity of family planning programs in Africa and Asia. The project seeks the services of ODK programmers to support data collection activities under three work-streams.

Specific Terms:
• To program all paper versions of the questionnaires into ODK software, in consultation with the work stream principal investigators
• To program all language translations into the master ODK form, and ensure smooth linking.
• To be available at all times during the training of the research assistants, supporting ODK related activities.
• To programme ODK quizzes for the specific work streams during training, and support the auto grading and feedback sharing
• To support the set-up of the project devices with ODK and ensure smooth running
• To act as a liaison with the cloud service provider during the process of data collection, including ensuring that the ODK aggregate is up and running at all times
• To conduct a daily download of the data from the central server, for cleaning and analysis.
• To trouble shoot any ODK programming challenges during data collection
• Ensure that data transmission, storage and access is as per the data access protocol
• Link with investigators from other R4S countries where the surveys are concurrently conducted.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the work stream lead relating to ODK support.

Qualifications.
• At least a Diploma in Computer Sciences, Statistics, Electronics or any other relevant field
• A Degree or Masters in Computer Sciences, Statistics, or any other relevant field is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years demonstrated experience in developing android data collection apps especially ODK.
• Experience in developing android data collection apps such as ODK, Hoji, Survey CTO
• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of digital/e-payment systems is an added advantage.
• Flexibility to work beyond the expected local time zones especially for purposes of coordination with international partners whose time zones differ.
• Experience in conducting trainings and supervision of electronic data collection using ODK.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
