Background:
The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is a Ugandan not-for-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development. IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research, Laboratory services (including the CAP-certified IDI Core Lab & Translational Lab), Global Health Security and Health System Strengthening.
About the project:
IDI has received a five-year transition award entitled USAID Local Partner Health Services-TB Activity. The purpose of the Award is to increase TB case detection and treatment success in Uganda to 90% of all cases and thus contribute to substantial reduction of Uganda’s TB burden by 2026. IDI will work through technical assistance to the national TB Program in the three districts of Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso and Regional Referral Hospitals to increase availability, accessibility and utilization of integrated TB/HIV and MDR-TB services.
In order to successfully, implement the project, IDI is looking for a competent and experienced individuals to fill the positions below:

Job Title: Data Officers (4 Positions)
Vacancy Code: DO-X005
Duty Station: Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso
Classification: Fixed term, full time
Reports to: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

General summary:
The data officer will provide ongoing technical assistance to the project, district and facility teams in recording and management of national and project-related data in line with current national guidelines. S/he will also assist the MEL officer in entry, cleaning and analysis of data captured in the Project MIS, DHIS-2 and other databases relating to TB data entry at national and facility levels.

Key Responsibilities:
• Mentor health facility staff in documentation into appropriate national HMIS tools.
• Ensure completeness, consistency and accuracy of data captured into the HMIS
• Support facility staff in the timely compilation of the routine HMIS reports.
• Support health facility staff in producing data summaries that inform continuous quality improvement initiatives in TB programming.
• Participate in analysis and interpretation of data
• Ensure availability of required tools at the facility levels.
• Provide forecast to avoid stock-outs of HMIS tools at facility level.
• Any other duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time.

Person specifications:
• Degree in any data management related field.
• Postgraduate training in M&E is an added advantage
• Experience in medical data management is an added advantage.
• Experience in the navigation of DHIS2 and USG-databases.
• Previous experience in supporting busy TB/HIV district data systems is an added advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
• Understands client confidentiality and exhibits a high level of ethical conduct
• Has basic computer literacy including word processing, excel, internet and PowerPoint.
• Attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Ability to work under pressure and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills
