Minimum Requirements:
At a minimum, the successful candidate’s CV must demonstrate the following:
• Education: Completion of elementary school is required or specialized vehicles repair and maintenance trainings are highly desired.
• Prior Work Experience: At least three years of professional chauffeur experience and a valid local driver’s license for following types of vehicles is highly preferred. Classes: B (motor cars),C (medium commercial), DL (light omnibus), DM (medium omnibus)
• Language Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write in English (Level III) is required.
• Knowledge and ability: Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns is required; knowledge and prior work experience with electronic recordkeeping (computer usage) is also highly desired.
• Must be legally able to work in Uganda.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Education: Completion of elementary school is required; secondary and related trade school or specialized vehicles repair and maintenance trainings are highly desired.

• Duties require the ability to deal with officials and occasionally VIPs in a relaxed but competent and professional manner.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, businesspeople, property owners and PC Volunteers.
• Demonstrated experience of cross-cultural communication skills is highly desired.
• Ability to work a regular Monday through Friday schedule with evening and weekend hours and travel to countryside as may be needed.

The work of a Peace Corps Personal Services Contractor (PSC) does not limit itself to the role: active support of the Peace Corps mission is paramount to the job because contractors are representatives of Peace Corps in the country.

Objective of the Position
The Driver will operate Peace Corps vehicles in accordance with Peace Corps and U.S. Government requirements and with supervisor instructions to transport cargo and personnel, Trainees, and Volunteers to appointments in Kampala and, as may be needed, throughout the countryside, where Peace Corps and its Volunteers work within Uganda. The incumbent will also have assigned responsibility in the oversight and backup performance of periodic maintenance and repairs of Peace Corps.

Tasks & Deliverables
Driving: 70%
Contractor will operate official Peace Corps vehicles to transport passengers and cargo.
Vehicle maintenance and repair: 15%
Contractor will insure that vehicles are maintained and repaired, either in-house or at referral site. With the GSO, Contractor will design, stock, and maintain vehicle maintenance systems and operate an in-house servicing capability. He will also wash and clean the vehicles as needed.
Other Duties: 10%
Record Keeping
Contractor will maintain vehicle logs that record each trip taken, odometer readings and time of departure and arrival for each trip. Each time that fuel is put in the vehicle, the Contractor will document on the mileage sheet the amount, odometer reading and date obtained. Any maintenance must also be recorded.
• Pick-up messages and parcels. He will make purchases as requested. He will do surveys of prices of goods.
• Load and unload heavy items into/from vehicles, as well as help move furniture and equipment from one part of the office and residences to another.
• Other duties as assigned by the GSO and/or the DMO: 5%

Standard Roles and Responsibilities
• Occasional Money Handler: The PSC may be requested to courier cash and/or purchase orders to various vendors who furnish supplies and/or services to PST/IST training site, or other locations as directed by the Contracting Officer. The PSC may also be requested to courier cash to PC trainees or volunteers. The PSC will not be functioning as a procurement or disbursing official but will only be acting as an intermediary between the Contracting or Disbursing Officer and the recipient. In the case of dealing with vendors, the PSC will not exercise any procurement discretion concerning the supplies or services to be purchased or the cost limits of these purchases; these will be determined by the Contracting Officer.
• S&S: Operates Peace Corps vehicles safely at all times. Immediately communicates Volunteer safety and security concerns and issues to the Safety and Security Manager (SSM) and CD. Knowledgeable and supportive of Peace Corps safety and security policies and procedures, including the timely reporting of suspicious incidents, persons or articles
• Given that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic there will be a lengthy period where there are likely to be limited or no Peace Corps Trainees and/or Volunteers (jointly referred to as “Volunteers”) Peace Corps/Uganda, the PSC may be temporarily assigned during the

COVID-19 pandemic, as determined by the Peace Corps Director, to carry out additional duties and responsibilities in furtherance of the goals of the Peace Corps in order to enhance the ability of Peace Corps Volunteers to perform functions under the Peace Corps Act, including facilitating a safe environment in order for the successful return of Volunteers.
This temporary assignment may require the PSC to provide services and/or support beyond what is listed in their current Statement of Work (SOW). The services and/or support may take many forms, examples of which may include but are not limited to, training, providing administrative, technical, medical, and/or operational assistance, building on host country programs, etc. This temporary assignment also may require the PSC to provide these services and/or support to individuals/organizations other than those listed in their current SOW such as host country government, partner organization(s), community member(s), staff, and/or contractors.

Logistics, Level of Effort & Duty Station
• The Duty station is the main office that is located in Kololo, Kampala. This position is full time and the candidate will be expected to carry out their duties during a 40 hour work week. Events may require occasional work in the evenings and on weekends and holidays. May carry a duty phone.
• Available Guidance: From supervisors, Peace Corps manuals and established practices.
• Exercise of Judgment: Considerable independence and exercise of judgment is required within the job requirements.
• Authority to Make Commitments: None
• Nature, Level and Purpose of Contacts: Contact with Peace Corps volunteers, staff, vendors, contractors, counterparts.
• Time Required to Perform Full Range of Duties after Entry into the Position: 52 weeks.
