WWF Uganda Country Office (WWF UGO) wishes to recruit suitably and highly qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following vacant positions. (Please note that positions 1,2,3 and 4 are open to Uganda Nationals only)

Position: Community Conservation Manager
Reports to: Forestry and Biodiversity Coordinator
Location: Kampala/Kasese


Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Strengthen CSOs at local and national levels to promote good governance of biodiversity and important natural resource areas in the Albertine Graben
  • Promote sustainable pro-poor conservation approaches that sustainably benefit conservation and development aspirations of the communities adjacent to high value conservation areas in the Albertine Graben
  • Support establishment of innovative financing mechanisms to_ sustain conservation and development efforts of communities living adjacent to high conservation value areas in the Albertine Graben
  • Engage communities in Community Based Natural Resources Management (CBRNM) interventions and enterprises that aim to restore degraded landscapes improve climate change resilience, food security, and reduce pressure on natural resources. e Regularly produce and disseminate high quality impact and communication stories resulting from the interventions.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master of Science Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Management or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in Community Conservation work. Specific work experience in the communities living adjacent to parks and forests in the Albertine Graben would be a strong added advantage.
  • Previous work experience or engagement with sector agencies (including National Forest Authority, Uganda Wildlife Authority. National Environment Management Authority, The Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in working with civil society organizations and the private sector is an added advantage.
