DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL NEEDS AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Reports to: Senior Education Officer, Special Needs Education
Age limit: Below 50 years for new entrants .

Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in the formulation of appropriate policies, plans and guidelines in Special Needs Education;
• Provide technical support and guidance on the implementation of policies, plans and guidelines on provision of Special Needs Education in special schools and institutions;
• Participate in the development and dissemination of teacher/instructor and learners for Special Needs Education;
• Liaise with relevant departments, agencies, organisations of and for persons with disabilities and other stakeholders on the development and promotion of Special Needs Education training in the country;
• Participate in the preparation of reports of special schools, programs and training at the local government and national levels;
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum qualifications and experience:
• An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Special Needs Education or Honors Bachelor’s degree in Education plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Needs Education from a recognized university/training institution.
• Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
• Below 50 Years.

Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Education Service Commission form 3 (1998) to the Secretary, Education Service Commission, P.O.BOX 7196, Kampala not later than 06 September, 2019.
The ESC Form 3 (1998) is obtainable from the Education Service Commission Offices 1st floor Farmers’ House, Parliament Avenue Kampala or Ministry of Education and Sports Headquarters or District Service Commission offices & the Commission Website: www.esc.go.ug.
Applications should bear the title of the post as well as the reference number specified against the vacancy.
Applicants should attach photocopies of Academic Certificates and Transcripts plus three recent passports size photograph Serving Officers should attach appointment and confirmation letters and recent pay slips. Qualifications from only recognized institutions will be considered.
