JOB DETAILS:
UPDN is an umbrella organisation for drivers’ associations/organisations and related stakeholders. UPDN was established in 2015 and registered with the NGO Board under the Ministry of internal affairs in 2016. This was at a time when many drivers’ associations were characterized by limited organization which adversely affected coordination in pursuit to common objectives of better welfare, common voice and professionalism. UPDN was hence established to build skills for professional development, coordination for unified voice of drivers on road safety agenda and to strengthen driver organisations for better welfare for their members.
The organizational structure for UPDN seeks to have a team that is both effective and efficient. It is upon this background that we are seeking a competent individual to fill the position of a Program Officer with competence to carry out Capacity Building, Advocacy and Knowledge Management. The ideal candidate shall also play the role of Deputy Director, with roles including representing the Executive Director in important forums and participating in resource mobilization for UPDN.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR UPDN PROGRAM OFFICER
Position Program Officer Office Program Responsible To: Executive director Responsible For: Project Officers, Field Support Staff, Peer Leaders
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Program Officer will be responsible for the coordination of all project specific activities and will provide project implementation support to Project Officers peer leaders, partners and other stakeholders in the implementing area..

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform and coordinate all project related activities.
2. Plan and Implement project activities that contribute to the attainment of project objectives
3. Strengthen the capacity of community support structures to identify and support communities in need.
4. Assist in Program Administration of the UPDN.
5. Ensure proper Project management.
6. Conduct continuous research and provide recommendations on significant developments, emerging opportunities.
7. Promote UPDN image and provide technical support to stakeholders in line with the Organizational mission vision and values.


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Timely preparation of work plans and related monitoring. • Timely implementation of project activities.
• Visibility of UPDN interventions with donors, partners, and beneficiaries
• Preparation of timely quality reports.
• Meet specified targets with expected outcomes.
• Organized office system evidenced by the ability of the supervisor to access all the information regarding the project.
• Disseminating information regarding interventions in a positive way PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications
• Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences/Social Work/community Development/Project Management or any other related field Experience
• At least Two Years’ experience in program development and management in an NGO.
