The UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women operaticnalizes this through Flagship Programming initiatives (FPIs) developed to achieve transtormative results for gender equality and women’s empowerment. The FPls respond to the expanded agenda for Beijing+20 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The main objective of UN Women’s support to Government under international GEWE normative frameworks (CEDAW, Beijing +20 Plan of Action, SDGs, UNSCR 1325) and Gender Responsive Budgeting is to institutionalize gender equality by ensuring that National and local plans and budgets are gender responsive throughstrengthening the capacity of the MGLSD and other selected MDAs and local governments to, plan, coordinate, monitor and track allocations for GEWE. Under the overall guidance and leadership of the Country Representative, and under the direct supervision of the Ministry Gender, Labour and Social Development and the Deputy Country Representative UN Women, the Officer for Accountability and Gender Mainstreaming will support the effective and efficient management and implementation of the UN Women's GEWE Programme. it is against this background that UN Women Uganda Country office seeks to hire a qualified and committed professional for a position of Programme Officer, Accountability and Gender Mainstreaming
