JOB DETAILS:
The research collaboration between Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Massachusetts General Hospital, focuses on epidemiological research in the area of HIV/AIDS. There is one position open for the description below:
Position Title: STUDY DATA MANAGER

This study aims to understand the impact of HIV infection on heart disease in in sub-Saharan Africa. The responsibility of the Data Manager position is to ensure the successful collection, quality assurance, and summarization of study data in collaboration with the US and Ugandan Principal Investigators and-based research team. The Incumbent will be directly responsible for database design, data monitoring and quality assurance, data summarization and reporting, data analysis for both study and laboratory data collection systems. This position will report directly to the Project Coordinator.

Educational Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, and/or Computer Engineering is required. Advanced training in database management a plus. Education in a health-related field is a plus;
  
• Experience in database design, data quality assurance, data management is required;
  
• Experience in HIV/AIDS programs and services is highly desirable;
  
• Experience with REDCap online database is a plus;
  
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is
  essential;
  
• Written and spoken fluency in English is required. Comfort with Runyankole is preferred;
  
• Knowledge of research ethics is essential.
  

Summary of Responsibilities

• Assist in database design and lead in data management;
  
• Lead data quality assurance practices, including weekly review of data entry;
  
• Participate in weekly meetings with the study staff and Principal Investigator;
  
• Provide weekly reports of study work to the study staff and Principal Investigators;
  
• Participate in data summarization and reporting;
  
• Conduct all work in compliance with internationally recognized ethical standards;
  
• Other duties as assigned.
  Position duration: 12 months at 100% effort with potential for renewal/extension based on study duration and employee performance; start date: October 2018.
