Muteesa 1 Royal University ( MRU ) is a private University that was accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) in 2007. MRU's Main Campus is situated in Kirumba, Masaka, with another campus at Kakeeka-Mengo.

To fulfil its vision and mission, MRU is seeking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and committed candidates to fill the positions of the Vice Chancellor and Chief Internal Auditor.

Post: Vice Chancellor
Reports to: University Governing Council
Duty Station: Kirumba, Masaka- the main campus of MRU
Role: To initiate, develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures for implementation of innovations in teaching, learning and research, quality enhancement and assurance of the academic programs, and improving student’s learning experiences in line with the University strategic plan.

Roles of the Vice Chancellor
The Vice Chancellor shall:

• Be responsible for the academic, administrative and financial affairs of the University. ¬
• the absence of the Chancellor, preside over ceremonial assemblies of the University and confer degrees and other academic titles and distinctions of the University.

Eligibility Criteria:
The Candidate should have the following;

• A PhD from a recognised Academic Institution.
• Should be at least 40 and not more than 60 years of age at the time of application.
•  Must have a proven track record of Academic management including supervision of Graduate students and Research.
• At least 5 years of teaching experience at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent in a reputable Institution with excellent track record of Research of at least 5 peer reviewed Publications in internationally recognised Journals.
• At least 10years working experience at Senior Management position, 4 of which MUST have been served at the minimum level of Principal of a College/ Faculty or a University equivalent in a reputable public or private institution with excellent track record in management, Leadership and building winning teams.
• High level of integrity, be a team player with excellent public relations and communication skills.
• Proven/demonstrated high level of experience in Networking, resource mobilization and preparation of grant winning proposals. He/she should have knowledge and proven experience in engaging with National and international Development partners.
• Proven experience in national, regional or international policy development in higher education.
• Thorough knowledge of the structural, legislative and regulatory framework for management of higher education in Uganda.
• Proven knowledge of public financial management and strategic planning.

Tenure of Appointment
The appointment shall be for a contract of five (5) years renewable once, subject to satisfactory performance.
