Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure for the Atomic Energy Council's Technical Support Facilities.
- Conduct feasibility studies, prepare technical reports, drawings, and construction specifications.
- Monitor and supervise construction projects to ensure compliance with legal requirements, safety standards, and AEC regulations.
- Assess environmental impact and risks related to construction projects.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to develop detailed designs and project plans.
- Prepare and evaluate tender documents, bids, and project cost estimates.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control during project execution phases.
- Carry out regular site inspections, supervise contractors, and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Provide technical support during audits and inspections related to infrastructure development.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation and contribute to project evaluation and reporting.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to civil and structural engineering within the project.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda.
- At least 3 years' working experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in construction of laboratories, office blocks, or technical facilities.
- Strong understanding of construction laws, building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, independence, and ability to work under minimum supervision.
