BACKGROUND
John Snow, Inc. (JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting for the Facility Based Integrated Clinical Services Officer. Lab Specialist, Malaria Officer. Nutrition Officer Supply Chain Specialist and TB Officer Positions for the Regional Health integration to Enhance Services- North, Lango (RHITES-N, Lango) Project, funded by the USAID. RHITES-N, Lango will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda's Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier projects.

RHITES-N, Lango will contribute to improving key Population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes.

JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact; evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional, district and community levels, Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to -child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and distribution. JSI wilt focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations.

RHITES-N, Lango is a five-year contract The JS1 team Includes Amref Health Africa, Africa CUAMM, Another Option, and Medical Concierge Group.

Position Description
Malaria Officer
Job Summary

The Malaria Officer is a full-time position and will be based in Lira; Uganda S/he will collaborate with the Malaria Adviser to support the RHITES-N. Lango technical team, districts and health facilities to plan, coordinate and monitor implementation of malaria Interventions aligned to the Uganda Malaria Reduction 2014 - 2020 strategic plan including promoting case Management (diagnosis, treatment and prevention) and prevention efforts through implementation of strategic objectives and interventions. The Malaria Officer will work together with Malaria Advisor in liaison with Ministry of Health (MoH) and relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of health care services in target districts. S/ne will report to the Malaria Advisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in coordination of implementation of malaria case management including diagnosis treatment and prevention activities in RHITES-N, Lango supported districts;
  • Participate in the MOH-National Malaria Control Program planning and coordination meetings and activities;
  • Coordinate provider Skills strengthening activities for malaria activities in the project supported health facilities
  • Activity contributes to collaborate efforts with H wide army at organizations, including district level partners the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), and other government counterparts to plan, implement and monitor malaria-related activities including capacity building efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and fully registered with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioner's Council
  • At least three years’ work experience in malaria program management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with project management abilities a
