JOB DETAILS:

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Provide effective and timely transport facility to internal and external clients of the hospital. The ambulance driver will transport the sick, injured, or convalescent persons and other hospital clients as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. CPR certification
3. Valid driver’s license (DL) & defensive driving skills.
4. Willingness to participate in on-the-job training
5. Knowledge of radio/standard radio transmission codes
6. Pass physical agility test
7. 3 years of working experience as a driver(desirable).
8. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

1. Zero tolerance for abuse of driving rules & regulations
2. Ambulance Response time rates & client satisfaction
3. Ambulance dispatch response time.
4. Vehicle handling and maintenance

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Complete a mechanical checklist prior to each shift to ensure the ambulance is in working order and ready to transport patients to and from required locations, and report any mechanical issues to appropriate service personnel.
2. Ensure the ambulance is clean and stocked properly with first aid and medical supplies prior to each shift and between patient transports throughout the day.
3. Accept patient transport assignments daily and drive ambulance with any necessary medical personnel to patient’s location.
4. Help patients onto the ambulance gurney and load them into the ambulance, assisted by a partner or other medical personnel.
5. Transport patient to an assigned medical facility, unload patient and take patient inside the facility and to where directed by medical personnel.
6. Accompany clinical teams on emergency calls to transport patients to hospitals when assigned to do so.
7. Report accident or other emergency facts to medical personnel and/or law enforcement when necessary.
8. Complete appropriate trip sheets as required by employer to record officially each transport
9. Remove and replace soiled linens or equipment to maintain sanitary conditions.
10. Act always in such a manner to promote and safeguard the interest and well- being of patients and client.
11. Be punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
12. Being readily available for all calls at all times and flexibility is a must
