History of Global LT

Founded in 1979, Global LT is a leading provider of language training, multicultural training, translation and destination services for global corporations. Our mission is to empower corporate employees to live and work successfully in the global marketplace by bringing together an international network of affiliated representatives, service providers, and professional staff to provide multinational companies, relocation providers, supplier networks and government entities with several tailored advantages.

Hortensia Albertini founded Global LT as a home-based language training company in 1979 with nothing more than a phone and a filing cabinet. More than three decades later, our company has grown into a leading global provider of language training, multicultural training, translation, and destination services, serving multinational businesses around the world and providing services on every continent, excluding Antarctica. Global LT remains headquartered in Troy, Mich., U.S.A., where the company was founded, with entities in Brazil, China, Hong Kong, and the U.K.

Hortensia was born in Cuba, immigrating to the United States with her family in the early 1960s. As a young adult immigrant, she worked to support her family by teaching Spanish to non-native speakers. Hortensia soon discovered that she had a gift for providing language training to the business community and was inspired to found her own language training company, Langua Tutor. The company’s first client, Ford Motor Co., has maintained its relationship with the company ever since.

Today, Hortensia’s daughter, Lisette Poletes, continues her legacy as an owner  of Global LT — our company name since 2004. Lisette has been instrumental in adding new Global LT entities in countries across the globe. As a result, many employees consider the transition the culmination of Hortensia’s immigrant story: the realization of the American dream, followed by the passing of that dream to the next generation. Yet it is also a sign of our continued commitment to our clients and our employees, whom we serve through unwavering service, training, and support. As we look to the future, it is this commitment that will drive our success for decades to come
