Every cup of tea brewed from Mabale’s choicest high grown tea estates on the foothills of the world’s re-known Rwenzoris, otherwise known as the Mountains of the Moon, is served with a healthy dose of an historic journey. Established in 1969 by the then Uganda Tea Growers Corporation, Mabale through the years has transformed from a government parastatal run processing facility into a privately owned, run and managed smallholder tea factory.
Mabale tea is grown by well over 3000 smallholder tea farmers in the districts of Kyenjojo and Kabarole at an average altitude of 4500 ft above sea level. This area is ‘gifted by nature’ with a cool climate, which ensures a relatively slow plant growth rate. This naturally makes Mabale tea a high grown, high quality tea. Over the years, Mabale teas have acquired a reputation for their colour and brightness—all positive indicators of a good quality tea. This has been as a result of continuous improvement initiatives and a professional approach to management.
Mabale tea is manufactured following strict food safety guidelines under HACCP and Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
