JOB DETAILS:
Hoima Regional Referral Hospital with support from Ministry of Health under Results Based Financing programme (RBF) is seeking for suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant posts on contract terms of employment at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
POSITION: ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER/MIDWIFERY
NO. OF VACANCIES: TWO (2)
REPORTS TO: SENIOR ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER/MIDWIFERY STATION: HOIMA REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL
SALARY SCALE: U5-MED .

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participate in continuous nursing coverage in wards/units by receiving reports and effectively handing over to in-coming shifts.
• Provide total care to mothers during pregnancy with emphasis on identifying high risk cases and provision of health.
• Ensure that a septic technique is adhered to in carrying out deliveries.
• Provide total care to mothers during labor with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complications to mothers and babies.
• Ensure that the baby’s air passages are clear, assess and keep baby warm: constantly watch the umbilical cord and carry out immunization.
• Make sure that the baby is properly labeled with an identification tag.
• Provide total care to mothers during premium with emphasis on prevention of infection and successful breast-feeding.
• Adhere to professional code of conduct.
• Be able to manage obstetrical emergencies and refer complicated cases to the Doctor.
• Register and notify the authority about the birth of the newborn.
• Maintain personal contact with patients: take note of their complaints, report if necessary and ensure confidentiality.
• Receive patients, register admissions and discharges.
• Participate in primary Health Care activities.
• Carry out any other duties assigned.

Person Specifications/qualifications:
• Must be trained as a Registered Midwife/Diploma in Midwifery.
• Must be registered with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
• Should have patient focused approach and a pleasant personality.
• Adaptive to any kind of situations surrounding patient care.
