JOB DETAILS:
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Entomology Laboratory Technicians for the LLIN Bio Efficacy Study. The successful candidates will be based at the Medical Entomology Insectary, Central Public Health Laboratories (CPHL), Butabika.

Job description
• Preparation of LLINs in accordance with WHO protocols for Bio-efficacy testing and chemical analysis
• Conducting LLIN cone assays on different net types for assessment of Bio-efficacy using established protocols
• Recording, data entry, reporting and presentation of outputs
• Mosquito colony rearing and maintenance of susceptible and resistant mosquito colony lines.
• Characterization of resistant colonies
• Insectary maintenance.
• Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and internationally acceptable quality control and quality assurance standards.
• Adherence to strict Professional code of conduct and Research Ethics
• Sample storage, data recording and archiving of technical reports
• Dissemination of findings Key Result Areas
• Experience in insecticide susceptibility testing
• Adherence to established protocols
• Quality control and assurance
• Good work ethic

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory technology or a Diploma in medical entomology and parasitology
• At least one-year experience in entomology related activities
• 1-year work experience in a research setting.
• Evidence of training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HSP.
• Good communication, computer, organizational and interpersonal skills
