Background
DAI seeks a Partnership Intervention Manager for a five-year (2019-2024), US$27 million USAID- funded agriculture intervention. The Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity (FtF IAM) works with agro-industry/agribusiness firms, Government of Uganda institutions and agencies, and market actor organizations on creating efficiencies in cross-market functions that enhance systemic changes to sustainably increase incomes and improve the livelihoods of households through agriculture-led inclusive economic growth. The Activity contributes to the Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) Uganda Country Plan goal of reducing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty, as well as the USAID/Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy’s (CDCS) 2016-2021 five- year goal of strengthening Uganda’s systems to accelerate inclusive education, health, and economic outcomes. The Activity works throughout the FtF Uganda Zone of Influence (ZOI), which covers 38 districts spread across three regions of Uganda.
Responsibilities:
• Build linkages, broker deals, and provide tailored technical assistance focused on growing businesses in an inclusive manner to a portfolio of private sector partners, including but not limited to processors, traders, financial services, and business development services (BDS) providers, focusing on growing their businesses in an inclusive manner.
• Collaborate with the Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Market Systems Advisor, other Partnership Intervention Managers, and partners to apply a market systems development approach to designing and implementing interventions and other technical assistance efforts that address partners’ needs and create transformative change in the wider agricultural market system.
• Drive interventions and work collaboratively with the FtF IAM operations team to translate activities, interventions, and technical strategies – including the co-creation of deal notes – into operational plans that are effectively implemented in compliance with USAID requirements. This includes conducting due diligence on partners and managing and documenting all partnership information through DAI’s systems and processes to ensure accurate, timely, and centralized information.
• Apply a facilitation approach to managing relationships with partners and meeting deliverables to ward against market distortions.
• Monitor the implementation and execution of deal notes and other technical assistance, and work with the FtF IAM M&E team to facilitate attainment of required M&E information.
• Identify new business opportunities and partners that have potential to enhance the goal of the IAM Activity
• Contribute to regular reporting on activities.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as rural and agricultural development, agricultural economics, agribusiness and/or business development, business administration OR a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with at least 6 years of development experience relevant to the SOW.
• At least 5 years of experience with public-private partnerships development in East Africa.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and analytical skills.
• Experience working with international donor agencies; experience with USAID management and administrative requirements preferred.
• Experience in the private sector or building/managing investments or relationships with private sector partners preferred. Experience in a business consulting environment is an advantage

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Partnership Intervention Manager will supervise the Partnership Assistant.
Base of Operations: Kotido, Uganda
Reporting:
The Partnership Intervention Manager will report to the Deputy Chief of Party.
COVID-19:
DAI is requiring all staff to be vaccinated for COVID-19 if they wish to access DAI offices; participate in in-person meetings with staff, customers, or stakeholders; or travel on DAI business.
