JOB DETAILS:
Community Empowerment for Rural Development (CEFORD) is a not for profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in West Nile, registered with the National NGO Bureau; and operating in the West Nile districts.
CEFORD has secured funding to implement three Projects in Refugee hosting districts of Arua, Madi Okollo, Yumbe and Koboko and wishes to recruit competent persons to fill the following posts to support the self-reliance, resilience and social stability of displacement affected communities, South Sudanese refugees, and their host communities in the target districts:
Job Title: Project Officer - Nutrition (PO) 02 Position
Location: Arua (Rhino-camp and Omugo)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Major function:
• Responsible for identifying nutritional needs in the various segments of the project, design and implement the nutritional strategy with in the project and coordinate with other activities within the project and develop appropriate communication material. .

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop work plans for implementation of CEFORD project activities in area of operation;
• Lead in regular and monitoring visits to Nutrition program sites in the community.
• Promote development of local policies that support improved food and nutrition habits for infants, young children, youth and women.
• Gather relevant information on the project to enhance informed accurate decision making.
• Contribute to the development of training programs, tools and related resources for workshops
• Support in sharing and gathering information with/from local communities in the project site in order to improve Nutrition standards in the community.
• Attend focused group discussions and other related Community level meeting to identify constraints to success of nutrition interventions.
• Contribute in data collection, nutrition surveys, campaigns, food distributions and monitoring of beneficiary trends.
• Support engagement of communities in improved nutrition practice including promotion of traditional food security structures.
• Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of project impact /interventions
• Train/mentor the Field staff under your supervision

Experience, Education and Required Skills
• Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics, or other related field is required.
• Certificate in Project Planning and Management and proposal writing is an added advantage.
• Experience in the area of nutrition promotion and addressing malnutrition
• Experience working in refugee setting an added advantage.
• Computer literate: MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• High level of integrity, commitment, strong report writing, analytical and communication skills, knowledge of participatory approaches.
• Must be self-supervised, able to work extra hours and willingness to adhere to organization values.
• Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community; traditions, culture, beliefs and refugee/host community hierarchical structures
• Strong community mobilization skills
• Strong communication skills, knowledge of local languages in area of preference (Lugbara and Aringa), knowledge of Arabic or any of the refugees’ language an added advantage.
• Ability to ride motorcycle and valid riding permit is a MUST
