ABOUT KRC
Kabarole Research and Resource Centre Uganda (KRC UGANDA) is a well-established NGO operating in the Rwenzori Region of Western Uganda. Founded in 1996, with a research mission and a long-term commitment to understanding the measures and drivers of poverty and its sqlytionsö KEC has béen working yith youths, farmers, women, refugees and local communities in 'Western Uganda and has accumulated substantial experience through implementation of agribusiness programs based on community priorities that would be most helpful in achieving sustainable and equitable socio-economic development. KRC is in partnership with GOAL UGANDA with funding from MasterCard Foundation to implement a four year project on Young Africa Works iruUganda: Markets for Youth Program in Kikuube, Hoima, Kyegegwa, Kamwenge, Fort Portal City and Kabarole Districts. The project strives to facilitate market systems change that enables 4,875 youths to access and engage in dignified and fulfilling work in Uganda l .
KRC invites applications for employment from suitable, qualified, dynamic and competent Ugandans willing to work with youths, women, local communities, local leaders, private sector actors and Government technocrats in Fort Portal and Kabarole districts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in project, Unit and Institutional planning and reflection meetings
• Conduct analysis of situation, stakeholders, target groups for Young Africa works: Markets for youth project
• Conduct mentorship for new youth groups in group dynamics and equip them with the knowledge and skills to run effective youth groups
• Capacity building for Youth Champions on TPA approaches, methodologies, business development and value chain development
• Organize entrepreneurship learning events for youths to enhance business growth and access to business opportunities
• Work with the MEAL Officer to provide technical support to Youth Champions to undertake action-oriented research to identify key issues and challenges in relation to youth work and agriculture
• Support youth champions to conduct community conversations
• Organize spaces and platforms between youths and duty bearers to enable youths present critical issues affecting the Agriculture market system
• Organize youths to participate in Agricultural Market system Fairs
• Support individual youths and groups in business plan development
• Create linkages for youth groups with Formal Financial Institutions, Private Sector Partners, Business Development Service providers, incubators and accelerators
• Coordinate and ensure close relationship Commercial Officers, Community Development Officers, Agriculture and Veterinary Officers, political leaders at Sub County and District and agriculture market actors.
• Coordinate monthly review meetings to promote sustained dialogue between the Youth Champions and youth group members
• Provide continuous mentoring of Youth Champions in the use of online social and business platforms to share learning and key messages with the wider youth population
• Coordinate the documentation of success stories by the youths using the most significant change story approach
Planning, Reporting and documentation e Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans
• Produce timely and accurate activity, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
• Produce article for monthly newsletters, and activity news briefs
• Document and produce most significant change stories
• Comply with KRC policies for finance, procurements transport, safeguarding, PSEA, child protection.
• Any other roles that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Candidates must be a holder of degree in any of the following fields of
• Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences and Socia Administration, Agribusiness, Economics from a recognized institution.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' working experience in project implementation, community mobilization, advocacy, agricultural value chains and working with the youth. Willing to work under extreme hardship with limited resources
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language and knowledge of the local languages spoken in Kyaka Il settlement and Kyegegwa District. Computer literacy skills are a must. Sound skills in the use of Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge and experience in the application of behavior change programming and the use of participatory tools and methodologies. Sound written and oral presentation skills
• Should have a riding permit or with ability to ride a motorcycle
