JOB DETAILS:
Mid-western umbrella of water and Sanitation (mwUws) is one of the six regional umbrellas, established by the Ministry of water and Environment through the Directorate of water Development to directly manage selected gazetted piped water supply systems. MwUws has a mandate to manage, operate and maintain (O&M) water supply systems for their sustainability in the Mid-Western region of Uganda.
mwUws operates in 16 districts namely; Kyenjojo, Kagadi, Hoima, Kikuube, Kabarole, Bunyangabu, Bundibugyo, Kamwenge, Mubende, Kassanda, Kibaale, Kyegegwa, Kakumiro, Ntoroko and Kasese, Kitagwenda. MwUws wishes to recruit Laboratory Technicians who will be responsible for improving and maintaining water quality in the towns where mwUws operates.
POSITION: 4 Laboratory Technicians
Reports to: WATER QUALITY ANALYST
Number of Positions: 4
Duty Station: Bundibugyo, Kamwenge, Kibale and Kassanda. .

Overall Purpose of the Job:
Improve and maintain good water quality that conforms to Uganda National Standards for drinking water

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Carry out daily quality tests in different water systems.
• Carry out water treatment and ensure water supplied to the communities conforms to Uganda National Standards.
• Ensure good maintenance of treatment facilities, water source and storage facilities, laboratory and equipment used in daily analysis.
• Make daily/weekly and monthly reports on the quality of water in the systems and reports to Regional water quality analyst.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in science technology Chemistry Biology, Medical laboratory technology, Industrial chemistry or Related Course.
• Experience in water treatment, Industrial Knowledge, Medical Laboratory, school laboratory organization is an added advantage.
• The Applicants should not be above 30 years of age.
