Job Purpose
The Abattoir Manager assists Operations Manager-Abattoir in ensuring daily production
operations run smoothly at the abattoir department.

The Abattoir Manager is also required at all times to demonstrate compliance to Biyinzika
Poultry International Limited Food Safety Policy.

Responsibilities
• Lead the production team to achieve goals and problem solve while demonstrating
a commitment to employees’ safety, teamwork, and product quality
• Participate in the budgeting process for the department, cost management and
being accountable to the production yield
• Track inventory records of all consumable materials (packaging materials,
chemicals, detergents, PPEs, staff food etc.), finished product stocks against sales
and marketing projections to avoid stockouts of essential products in dry goods
store and cold rooms
• Timely requisition for ingredients and/or supplies as necessary to meet delivery
schedules and evaluate materials and products to maintain organizational
standards
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements with respect to
product processing, packaging, and storage
• Effectively communicate with and motivate employees in order to drive
productivity and achieve company standards
• Supervise employees to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety so that daily
production requirements are met
• Support in scheduling, tracking attendance, and review and approve time offs for
all employees
• Direct and supervise employees' work activities and monitoring of work
performance
• Manage and utilize various production reports to ease decision making process
• Create a continuous improvement culture through application of agreed upon
concepts and procedures to the day-to-day production operations

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Communicate at all levels in order to meet production expectations
• Collaborate with all functional areas of operation such as Human Resources, Safety,
Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Finance, logistics, maintenance and Farms.
• Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and
ensuring strict adherence to them at all times by all members of staff
• Ensure that Company Property and equipment are taken good care of in the
abattoir section
• Ensures adherence to food safety and product quality measures through GMPs
• Perform all other projects, initiatives, and tasks as needed

Person Specification

Education, Training,Skills & Experience
Education, Professional Qualifications and Experience.
• Degree or Diploma in Food Science and Technology or related training
• Minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in a leadership role in a food processing industry
• Experience in a poultry processing plant is an added advantage
