JOB DETAILS:
We are 'Vidullanka PLC', a pioneer in the renewable energy industry in Sri Lanka. A champion for greener and cleaner ways to conduct our business, we are engaged in the development of Hydro-power, Biomass, Solar and other forms of renewable energy sources for a sustainable planet. We are seeking a qualified Ugandan Agricultural Specialist to join our team and contribute to our biomass energy projects in Uganda. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying biomass availability, evaluating land for energy crops, and building relationships with local farmers. This role requires extensive fieldwork and technical expertise in agricultural practices and biomass power generation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and recruit suitable participants for studies focused on Biomass availability.
• Locate and evaluate lands appropriate for energy crop cultivation.
• Investigate and comprehensively document available Biomass sources within designated areas.
• Establish and sustain strong relationships with local farmers and plant growers to secure consistent Biomass supplies.
• Conduct in-depth studies on biomass power generation and assess its agricultural implications.
• Analyze tree growth patterns and optimize cultivation practices across various regions in Uganda. Assess plant conditions critical to biomass power generation.
• Perform environmental and social impact assessments related to biomass energy projects.
Requirements:
• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or related fields. Experience in the agricultural or energy sector is preferred.
• Proficient in Ms office, Data analysis and reporting tools.
• Thorough understanding of local agricultural practices and biomass sources.
• Strong community engagement skills to build trust and collaboration with local communities. Technical skills in environmental and social impact assessments.
• Comfortable with extensive travel and fieldwork in rural areas.
• Excellent reporting and documentation skills. Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
