Our client Industrial Security Services Ltd was established in 1996 and is based in Jinja, Uganda. Industrial Security Services Ltd is the leading Regional security provider for technology-driven security solution.
Industrial Security Services Ltd is looking for a competent and experienced Assistant Manager to work in the Night Shift, and to be based in Jinja, Uganda.
Reports To: The Managing Manager
Duty Station: Jinja, Uganda
Job Summary: This role involves supporting the daily management and operations of the team, helping to ensure the effective delivery of security services to clients. This role involves supervising security personnel, coordinating with clients, and assisting in the development and implementation of security protocols. The Assistant Manager shall work closely with the Security Manager to handle administrative tasks, manage client relationships, and ensure that security operations meet industry standards and client expectations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Security Manager in supervising the day-to-day operations of both on-ground security teams and technical support teams, ensuring smooth coordination between human resources and security technology.
- Lead a team of security officers, system operators, and technical staff, providing clear instructions, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Monitor team performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as incident response times, system downtime, and service quality, and implement corrective measures where needed.
- Assist in the integration of advanced security technologies with traditional security measures, ensuring seamless interaction between human resources and technology to enhance overall security.
- Serve as the key point of contact for clients regarding technology-driven security solutions, ensuring that their expectations are met or exceeded through proactive communication and support.
- Conduct regular site visits and client meetings to assess the effectiveness of both personnel and technology in maintaining security, providing recommendations for technology upgrades or personnel adjustments.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs for security personnel on the use of advanced security technologies, ensuring all staff are proficient in the use of tools such as surveillance software, remote monitoring systems, and mobile security applications.
- Manage the efficient deployment of technology and security personnel to client sites, optimizing resources and minimizing operational costs.
- Manage system upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption to security operations while improving service delivery through the integration of advanced technology.
- Identify opportunities to innovate or enhance security protocols through the use of emerging technologies such as machine learning, cloud-based systems, or mobile security applications.
- Oversee the performance of contractors involved in the installation, maintenance, or upgrade of security technology systems, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Track and report on technology maintenance costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings through preventive maintenance or upgrading to more cost-efficient technology.
- Manage administrative tasks such as preparing reports, maintaining records, and handling security-related documentation.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by management.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Understanding of the security protocols, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- At least 3-5 years post qualification experience in a security management role, preferably in a technology driven environment (essential).
- Hands-on experience with managing security teams and coordinating security technology solutions.
- Strong knowledge on the operation, maintenance, and deployment of advanced security technologies, such as AI-driven analytics, biometric systems, intrusion detection, or remote monitoring systems.
- Experience in managing projects involving the implementation of security technologies, including planning, execution, and budget management.
- MUST have the ability to work night shifts as required by the company.
- Ability to oversee the integration of physical and digital security measures, ensuring seamless operations.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols.
