JOB DETAILS:
PowerUP is making electric cooking affordable, accessible, and normal across Africa. We are a clean-tech company developing efficient appliances that reduce carbon emissions while delivering income and health benefits to our customers in Africa. We seek to become the leading provider of emissions-reducing products and technology to consumers in Africa. PowerUP combines data analytics and behavioral science, and carbon finance to ensure our customized electric cookers are fully adopted to displace biomass and fossil fuels.

About the Role
The CCO owns all the commercial activities in PowerUP (across our global operations) that span market expansion, distribution partnerships, carbon commercial, and fundraising. They will be the PnL leader at all commercial levels at PowerUP developing and executing our multiple revenue models. They will build and lead the Commercial Team and its processes. Key deliverables include management of the company topline, owning the carbon expansion strategy, growing the carbon revenue metrics, and direct sales expansion. This senior leadership team member will be responsible for crafting, contributing, and executing the company vision and strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Lead all business development activities:
• Hit partnership revenue targets and drive revenue growth
• Create strategic distribution partnerships for PowerUP hardware, software, and carbon solutions
• Test and implement distribution models to expand the reach of PowerUP’s solutions rapidly and efficiently
• Build incentives and support structures to ensure high-quality sales with distributors
• Negotiate terms and conditions of distribution and carbon agreements with partner channels
Lead in carbon commercial activities:
• Grow PowerUP’s portfolio of carbon reduction projects
• Strategically market PowerUP carbon credits and highlight the co-benefits to voluntary and compliance buyers
• Establish and own the key carbon revenue metrics to ensure high-quality sales and distribution
• Generate leads for Emissions Reduction Purchase Agreements (ERPAs) and manage carbon buyer relationships in line with PowerUP’s Corporate Strategy
• Negotiate ERPA price, volume, and terms with a variety of buyers and financiers
• Set KPIs and goals for financing and off-take activities for the company
Develop the direct distribution functions in the company:
• Build new sales operation teams, oversee direct-to-consumer distribution and sales, generate go-to-market strategies
• Own all sales and distribution-related revenue metrics for the company
Lead grant writing and assist with equity and debt capital raises:
• Identify new funding opportunities and pitch detailed proposals to strategic funding partners
• Manage the complete grant cycle

Required Experience:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in partnership development and business development
• Strong presentation skills in pitching to potential donors and partners
• Experience in setting up direct distribution channels, hiring, and supervising sales teams
• Experience successfully closing grants for a for-profit social enterprise
• Understanding of carbon credit trading; relationships with potential carbon buyers is preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and written and visual presentation
• University degree in a related field
