Muteesa I Royal University (MRC) is a private University that was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) in 2007. its Main Campus is situated in Kirumba Masaka, with other campuses in Mubende and Mengo Kakeeka. The mission of the MRU is to provide an effective and efficient setting for the development of intellectually dynamic individuals, principled and resource l professionals and practitioners. MRU is seeking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and committed candidates to fill the positions highlighted below:

Chief Internal Auditor
Reports to: Council (with administrative responsibility to the VC) Role definition: To develop and implement policies and procedures tor performing risk based internal audit assignments and contribute to the improvement of MRU, risk management, internal controls, reporting and governance processes in compliance with statutory requirements and the professional auditing standards

Key result areas/responsibilities

• Design. review and establish internal Audit policy documents and appropriate Standards, policies and procedures to guide the delivery of internal Audit services in line with departmental guidelines.
  
• Monitor compliance with the audit policies and procedures across MRU departments and functions line with internal Audit Professional Practices.
• Prepare and submit Audit reports to help in communicating and interpreting the results of audit activities to relevant MRU administrative and oversight organs in line with set organizational standards.
• Develop, monitor and main internal audit quality program in accordance with international Standards for the
• Professional Practice of internal Audit Charter and the internal Audit
• Maintain productive client relationship between internal audit and other University departments in line with MRU set guidelines.
• Conduct and present regular assurance assignments to top Management and the Audit Committee in accordance with international Standards for the Professional Practice of internal
• Auditing and Certified Government Auditing Profession
• Identity areas that need improvement in University governance, reporting, risk management and internal controls and make appropriate recommendations

Qualification and experience

• An Honours Bachelors Degree in finance or accounting or equivalent
• Full professional Qualifications in Accountancy or Audit obtained from a recognised awarding body.
• A Masters degree in either Financial Management or Audit or Buisiness administration or Management from a recognized institution is added advantage
• A minimum of 5 years‘ experience in audit work, 3 years of which should be at a Senior Auditor level equivalent level of experience in Audit from a reputable Organisation
