Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure for the Atomic Energy Council's Technical Support Facilities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, prepare technical reports, drawings, and construction specifications.
  • Monitor and supervise construction projects to ensure compliance with legal requirements, safety standards, and AEC regulations.
  • Assess environmental impact and risks related to construction projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to develop detailed designs and project plans.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, bids, and project cost estimates.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control during project execution phases.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, supervise contractors, and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical support during audits and inspections related to infrastructure development.
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation and contribute to project evaluation and reporting.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor relevant to civil and structural engineering within the project.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda.
  • At least 3 years' working experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in construction of laboratories, office blocks, or technical facilities.
  • Strong understanding of construction laws, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, independence, and ability to work under minimum supervision.
