PROJECT DESCRIPTION
WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in the World’s poorest communities. WaterAid works through supporting local organisations and government authorities to design and demonstrate a appropriate and sustainable WASH programmes. WaterAid also seeks to influence policy change through government and other key sector actors to secure and protect the rights of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.

The positions will report to the Specific Unit Heads, based in Kampala

Purpose of job:

  • Responsible for Media, Public Communication, Documentation and Dissemination oi WaterAid Uganda's best operating practices, key learning’s and development to enhance visibility, amongst the development sector and to the WA H partners (both governmental and civil society organizations).
  • Drive the country programmes's communication strategy and maintain close relationship with stakeholders and other organisations to raise the profile of WASH through generating public support and interest for its WASH agenda.

Principle responsibilities: communication and media management, partner support,‘ reporting.

The Communications and Media Relationship Manager will:

  • Proactively and creatively promoting the vision of WaterAid through raising WaterAid and its partners visibility i.e. improve the organization’s proļ¬le an promote changes of social & economic issues identified by WAU's work in the sector.
  • Develop regular newsletters tor WAU and sector related activities and manage updates both locally and internationally.
  • Provide the overall communications support tor the program and translate strategic goals and vision into useful and powerful messages that will s/peak to stakeholders about improving W SH access to poor communities
  • Develop the communications work plans and budget. This will include the development of events calendar that targets strategic groups, organizations and media.

Education, experience and skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Mass communication, marketing, journalism or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in communications or media advocacy related work in the development sector
  • Experience conducting communications campaigns and capacity building efforts in Uganda
  • Website management experience Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proven experience in mobilisation and public Speaking
